Cool Hotels in KL

The Royale Chulan

The Royale Chulan is a luxurious hotel with a dramatic circular staircase in the lobby, with gilt mirrors, glass cabinets and shining marble. The guest rooms are similarly ornate, featuring intricate woodwork, satin bed runners, and Chesterfield sofas. The real design highlight, however, is the hotel’s ground-floor garden, which is topped with a glass roof and decorated with fountains, trees, and elaborate chandeliers. On-site facilities include a spa, pool, gym, mini-theater, salon, and three fine-dining restaurants. Visitors can enjoy traditional Malay food at Bunga Emas or French cuisine at L’Heritage.

Villa Samadhi

Villa Samadhi is designed to resemble an upscale beachside villa with a façade made of timber, bamboo and dried grass. Inside, you’ll find charcoal flooring, and earth tones with pops of brightly-coloured accents. The hotel is centered on a lagoon-style pool, which can be accessed directly from the rooms found on the ground floor. Other villas have outdoor rainforest showers, indoor Jacuzzis, or kitchens that include the service of a chef who takes guests to the market before preparing a meal for them. The hotel also features a fine-dining restaurant and a picturesque rooftop lounge.

Anggun Boutique Hotel

Anggun Boutique Hotel is set in two 1920s colonial houses that once belonged to the wealthy Chung family. The homes have been beautifully restored to highlight the open courtyard found in the center. During the evening, this peaceful atrium is enchantingly illuminated with red Chinese lanterns which can be seen from many of the guestrooms. Rooms are decorated with teak beds, natural fabrics and dark woods, while the lobby features Peranakan tiles. This eco-friendly hotel also offers a spa, as well as an excellent rooftop resto-lounge that serves authentic Malay cuisine.

Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur

Despite its minimalist and modern décor, Le Meridien exudes an inviting, home-like atmosphere. The sophisticated rooms are decorated with warm brown tones, featuring silk drapes and large bathtubs with separate showers. Windows overlook views of the city and the nearby Lake Gardens, which is home to more than 18,000 indigenous plants, trees and flowers. The hotel also includes the city’s largest free-form pool, along with a fitness studio, spa and two excellent restaurants. Prime serves a menu of Australia and US premium meat cuts, while Favola offers pastas, pizzas, seafood, and other Italian classics.

Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa

The guest rooms at Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa are decorated in a variety of themes, including “Tranquillity” and “Arabian”, while the Premier Room offers gorgeous views of the Sunway Resort City. The hotel is home to a landscaped, free-form swimming pool with a beautiful waterfall feature. There’s also on-site spa offering Balinese-inspired body treatments, a rooftop tennis court, and six on-site restaurants and bars. The hotel is bordered by Sunway Lagoon theme park and Sunway Pyramid shopping mall, connected directly to both by covered walkways.

The Majestic Hotel

A Kuala Lumpur icon, the Majestic Hotel has been welcoming guests into its glamorous rooms since before the Second World War. With rooms set in two buildings, the hotel’s enchanting interior features Roman columns, vintage wrought iron ceiling lamps, and a gold-leaf domed roof. The Majestic Wing, the hotel’s original building, exudes a timeless elegance with its polished wooden floors and claw footed bathtubs. The Tower Wing features more contemporary décor, while still paying tribute to the early 20th century with its black, white, and gold color themes. Colonial Cafe and Tea Room is a tea lounge and bar with an old-western-saloon vibe, while The Smokehouse is designed to resemble an 18th-century gentleman’s club.

Carcosa Seri Negara

Carcosa Seri Negara is set in a gorgeous 19th-century mansion that once belonged to Sir Frank Swettenham, British advisor to the Sultan of Perak. Set on a hilltop, this heritage mansion is surrounded by 16 hectares of gardens. The hotel includes 13 Victorian-style suites, including the Grand Makmur Suite which features two, private verandas, a colonial four poster bed, and lovely French windows; and four Stately Suites with high ceilings, and separate living rooms with views of the well-landscaped garden. A swimming pool and whirlpool, sauna, exercise room, tennis court, and a jogging track are also found on-site.
